THE ROUGES

THE FRANQ ROUGE    THE BLEND ROUGE

This range aims to highlight a grape variety that surprised us in the past, when it was used to support and enhance another variety. Like a choir singer whose vocal quality stands out and ultimately becomes the lead. Ladies and gentlemen, the Rouges!

While tasting different barrels to enhance the Chacai Cabernet Sauvignon, our attention was drawn to the Cabernet Franc. It was extraordinary—almost painful to spit it out during tasting. Its distinctive and powerful style asserted itself on its own, and we ultimately bottled a portion separately, dressing it with the family’s only black label: THE FRANQ ROUGE.

This wine stands out for its robustness combined with the delicacy of its violet and floral notes, much like those found in Aquitanian terroirs such as Saint-Émilion. It represents the darker side of CASAFÈVRE’s wines, with intensely purple and black fruit. To withstand such intensity, new oak and extended time in barrel are required—French oak, of course.
